Xzavian Brandon Profile
"A lot of schools want to see me in person before they offer," said Xzavian. "I am looking for a lot of offers after spring practice. I know Mississippi State and Minnesota are serious about me."
"Coach Croom and Coach Turner are supposed to come by my school in a few weeks," said Brandon. "Boston College is in the mix now too. Their receiver coach, Coach Day, has been text messaging me a lot. Coach McDonald from Minnesota is really high on me. He is supposed to come by this spring."
With several schools recruiting Xzavian and his friends Justin Tuggle and Cordian Hagans, Northview will have more than it's fair share of visitors this spring.
"We have about 25 schools coming by this spring to check all of us out," said Xzavian. "It's exciting!"
Brandon spends countless hours working on fine tuning his game. He even spends some time on weekends in class rooms receiving instruction on how to be a better football player.
"I work with Stacey Bailey, he is my reciever coach outside of school," said Xzavian. "He works with Brice Butler too. Brice and I are good friends. We work together every Sunday at what's really like a receiver camp."
"We have classroom sessions where we learn to break down coverages, where the DB is going to be when you catch the ball and etc.," said Xzavian. "One of the things we talked about when I was trying to take my game to the next level was making that first guy miss. He is teaching me to not settle for that five yard gain, but taking the five yard ball and taking it sixty yards."
Xzavian has seen a lot of improvement in his game, but he is not satisfied with the status quo. He is still pushing himself to be even better.
"I am working hard on getting bigger and faster," said Brandon. "I want to be faster and I need to add some size. I am still working hard to perfect my routes. You can never run them enough. I think my ability to run routes and catch the ball are as good as anybody in the country, but I want to be the most complete player I can be. I am always working to get better."
Xzavian denys a leader, but says a handful of schools appear to stand apart from the others at this time.
"I think Mississippi State, Boston College, Minnesota, Vanderbilt and probably Florida recruiting me the hardest," said Brandon. "I get a lot more mail than that, but those five are probably the most serious ones right now. I have talked with all of them."
Finding a home away from home is the top priority for Xzavian, but the resume and coaching style of his position coach will be a major factor.
"I just want to find the place where I can feel comfortable," said Xzavian. "I want a recievers coach that can take my game to the next level. I want him to teach me and not just coach me. I want a coach that can help me be a complete player, so I can go to the next level beyond college."
